Re: €€

Reasons we might not do well on Tuesday - it's not England so will we get the same instensity? Will we have a mindset to play again how we played in that one (big mistake) rather than forget it and start again? Croatia have seen us and will try to isolate & bypass our midfielders, and peg back our wider midfielders.
Reasons we might do well on Tuesday - Clarke's a better tactician than many managers we've had and can be expected to foresee Croatia's tactics based on counteracting how we played v England. We've had 'after the Lord Mayor's show' performances before, SURELY professional players know how it works and won't give one. It's a big match against big opposition - no grounds for complacency cos it's 'only Peru/Iran/Morocco'.

I think that the intensity, while it won't be as it was in the England game, will come from the squad of players themselves.  They seem to have a really strong bond and play with a guile that I haven't seen in a while in other Scotland squads.

I do rate Clark and I agree with you that he is a good tactician.

I hope we play with two up front and I'd like to see Ché Adams on from the start.  I also think Nisbet could make a difference.

It's a bit of a scunner that Gilmour is out with Covid because I thought he was outstanding at Wembly.  However, we're not short of decent midfielders.

Re: €€

And losing Gilmour (as long as he doesn't take any others with him to self-isolate) is a bit of a problem for them too as it means we can't play again in the way we'd be tempted to, ie that was effective last match, so they won't be able to fully drill themselves to face it. Not as big a prob as it is for us of course, but still, glass half full and all that.

Re: €€

Really nervous about this now.  I just wish it was kickoff!

Re: €€

Funny, I'm not. I suppose I've/we've often been here before - in tournaments/travelling around foreign parts looking for 1 performance, 1 result, and not getting it that this time I'm feeling strangely laid back. Fearing the usual, hoping for (and wouldn't be surprised at) something better. Chilled.

Re: €€

Well that was all a bit disappointing.  I think we (SFA) should take a really good look at how a country of 4m people can produce a team that's been in the upper echelons of world football fairly consistently for 20 years or so.  Why can't we?  It can't just be that it's too cold here for kids to play outside, and I'm sure they have x-boxes in Croatia.

Re: €€

Uh-huh. We were never consistent attendees at WCs & Euros but we were a lot more competitive. Since then, operating in the same world as us, some nations of similar sizes to us have become strong (Netherlands etc, and the Netherlands also borders a country with a bigger stronger richer league as we do) and some have become weaker (us). So......are we mis-managed.

Re: €€

No interest in it now Scotland are out. (Until England get scudded then I'll act the absolute arsehole)
