Autoglass

Bunch of dodgy, robbing *****!

Needing my windscreen replaced. Woman on the phone, after giving her very little details, hit me with a quote of £795. She was told politely to fuck right off.

Took the car to National Windscreens and given a quote of £285. More than £500 less than those thieving ***** at Autoglass.

How can companies get away with ripping people off like this?

Re: Autoglass

Wow - did you offer her some Brasso so she could polish her neck?

Do most car insurance policies not essentially offer free windscreen repair because they know how important it is?  Or maybe only fully comp policies?  Or maybe I'm making it up!

I’ve not got it on mine. Daft I know.
I couldn’t believe when I got the second quote.

Re: Autoglass

Argh!  That's horrendous! Could get a runaround car for that price!

I think most fully comp policies offer it for a small cost.

£75 I pay if I need a new windscreen.

Worth adding it to your policy for future claims, Ian.

Re: Autoglass

Yeah, I’m definitely going to look at getting cover put on my insurance.

Re: Autoglass

If you claim for a screen you need to declare that on every quote for 5+ years and it'll put your premiums up a wee bit. But I'd guess at less than the cost of those quotes. If damage can be repaired tho, mibbes better to pay that yourself, I claimed for chip repair and might've had to cough up more in the 5 or so years since then in increased premiums.

Not on my policy.  You pay the 75 quid and that's it; it doesn't affect your premiums.

I imagine each company will be different.
