The Egg Chasing

Don't like rugby but would support Scotland at Tiddliewinks.

Great result.

Have a wee listen to the Stay at Home Choir's version of Caledonia.

Video below on a tweet from Sturgeon.

Re: The Egg Chasing

I see only four Scotland players took a knee pre-match.

Re: The Egg Chasing

I get passing enjoyment from rugby when it's Scotland (or Edinburgh) - well depends on how they're playing but ye ken whit ah mean). So am chuffed about the win and esp the manner of it.

I wasn't aware of that until I read your post.

Majorly disappointing from my perspective.

Re: The Egg Chasing

I'll row it back a bit (only a bit) as I've since learned from an ex-pupil of yours that the Scotland team had zero idea the England boys were going to do it and had to react spontaneously. You'd still imagine they'd have the sentience to give the guy next to them a nudge of course.

Re: The Egg Chasing

Not all of the English boys did it either, nor the Welsh nor the Irish. There isn't formal guidance on it like in fitba. So not doing it isn't a signifier of any particular  point of view.

Aye, that's more or less what I was trying to say
A wee bit of a shambles rather than any badness.

I'll bow to J's knowledge on that, but I 'd say two things.

First, Scottish rugby should have had the nous to say similar in the press.  They tweeted numerous times about Scotland's victory so could have alluded to the fact that nothing had been agreed regarding taking the knee.

Second, the players play a team sport.  They should have followed their teammates who did take the knee.

As you say, IJ, a total shambles, but surely it must have occurred to professional sportsmen?!  The spontaneous action probably makes it a bit more meaningful for those who've taken part though - do you not think the issue risks being diluted when it becomes institutionalised?
