Diego Maradona has died.
Without a doubt the best player I've ever seen.
Absolute legend.

One of that very very small group who'd have been great whatever era they played in.

The first non-Hearts player I idolised as a kid. Still wear a boca juniors shirt to this day. RIP to the wee man.

Welcome, Thomasral. 😊
No doubt that Maldini was a world class player.
While his talent shouldn't be under-rated, I wouldn't however rank him as the best player ever.
I also wonder if a defender would ever be put into that category. I think position dictates not.

I feel bad for keepers and defenders. It's inarguable (imo) that Dino Zoff for instance did more for the game than say someone like Alan Shearer, but you ask people who the better player was...

Baresi and Khan would be in that group I reckon.

It's interesting tho isn't it - if you made a team of the players most people would say were the greatest ever it'd be full of midfielders & strikers and be struggling for defenders.

Yes, but folk would naturally go for goalscorers. It's the goals that make a team great.

Another world class player, Paolo Rossi has died.
