Any further forward on what the slimy thing with the tail was?  I genuinely can't think of anything, unless she caught a reptile, but they're not really slimy.

Love her too much to dissect her to find out!

No idea.  Could easily have been something a bird of prey has dropped out its beak flying over.  Lamb entrails or similar.

Won't be the first time we've found 'remains' in the garden.

Have found bits of crabs, fish etc previously.

She has one of these https://www.kongcompany.com/wobbler.

About six or seven months ago, I forgot to bring it in from the garden after she had been playing with it.  The next again morning, she went out, nudged it with her nose and a wee mouse which had obviously been sheltering from the cold, ran out.

Suffice to day, it was one of the worst experiences of my life.  It ran across the chips in the back garden and she kept getting it.  All I could see was the tail hanging out her mouth and getting shorter and shorter as I shouted on her to drop it!

She dropped it a few times but chased it and managed to pick it up.  The thing is, she picked it up like a bitch would pick up her pups; with such a gentle mouth.

Eventually, she dropped it for a third or fourth time, but this time on grass.  I think the fact that the mouse was able to run across a flat surface was what saved it.  It struggled whilst running over the chips!

I still feel stressed thinking about the wee mouse!

How big was it IJ? Looks a bit like a ferret but hard to tell with a close up pic.

No as big as that photo anyway

It's an opossum though, see them very rarely but they're nice wee things. Get a fair few raccoons who are a good laugh but are 100% kind of house guests that tan all your biscuits and then plug up the toilet. Scoundrels.

Have you seen the raccoon scene in The Incredibles 2?  I think it's probably my favourite fight scene of all time!
