Rocket test in the highlands.
Skyrora have launched a rocket, big deal, The two meter rocket is being hailed as a huge success but is small compared to amateur rockets fired in the USA. If they are serious about a space hub up north then the really need to up the anti.

The point is the rocket was nothing more than a firework. ( Tesco's sell stuff not much smaller ) Armature rocketeers in the USA are firing bigger rockets every weekend. There was a programme on TV ,storage wars I think, where they found a two meter rocket in a lock up and fired it off. If they are being serious about having a launch site they need to gear up to something that better represents what they ultimately want to aspire to.A couple of guys from the USA could have come over and fired that off with no drama.

The point is the rocket was nothing more than a firework. ( Tesco's sell stuff not much smaller ) Armature rocketeers in the USA are firing bigger rockets every weekend. There was a programme on TV ,storage wars I think, where they found a two meter rocket in a lock up and fired it off. If they are being serious about having a launch site they need to gear up to something that better represents what they ultimately want to aspire to.A couple of guys from the USA could have come over and fired that off with no drama.

Part of commissioning a launch site isn't just the rocket itself, it's all the organisation and stuff around it, the monitoring kit & the procedures. That will have been getting trialled too. And the kit for a commercial/scientific launch site, and what a wee rocket carries and wants to beam back, will be some way beyond what an amateur squib is set up to do. So I'm guessing they tested things out on a cheaper smaller one before sinking serious funds into a fuller launch.
