Craig Halkett

Discussion about him on Kickback. He’s a pretty rank defender but really looks the part up front. Apparently he began his career as a striker.
Should we use him as a striker from now on?

Re: Craig Halkett

I think we had 4 strikers on the park at one time and struggled to score. It's poor choices from the ones we have that are killing us ( along with very poor defending.

Walker shot from left of the box when he had plenty of time to take a touch and control it. Boyce jumping to head onto the bar when he should have stood and blootered it, Walker poor trying to chest it in. and others. Ok conditions were dire but it's their job, I had to work in some dire conditions but still managed. Some find it hard to distinguish between them PLAYING football and their profession.
There should be a lot more professional pride ( considering how much they get paid. )

Re: Craig Halkett

accommodating our best defenders is an issue, surprisingly enough given how leaky we are. Smith and Clare (at FB) are shoo-ins. Hickey is the best of the left-side FBs, In the centre we don't have a decent commanding consistent player, Halkett and Soapy are a source of encouragement to the opposition at times and Dikamona makes them look dependable. So I'd go with Clare & Hickey wide, Smith either central with one other or part of a central 3. With a DM in front of them and another not too far away. I know that sounds defensive but given that Clare & Hickey are at their best bombing forward it wouldn't stay overly defensive. Another big problem is central and attacking mid, and has been since Kipper got injured, we don't have anyone who can own that area and it costs us dear, opposition being able to attack down the middle but us not having that variety available.

I don't think he's any great shakes, but I'd be punting the so called international beside him first. Powder puff and half hearted.

Ah yes, the massively overrated John Souttar. I completely agree.

Re: Craig Halkett

Poor John Souttar, he has an excellent 20 minutes in him most games. An ok 55 minutes. And a scatterbrained 15 as well.
