I feel both angry and disturbed when I read stories like this!
First, what does a jobsworth like this individual get off on, behaving like this? The fare isn't coming out his pocket, yet he is prepared to let a lone female walk home on her own!
Second, IT IS NOT OK, for groups of males or single males to approach a woman on her own!
Stories like this really upset me and it was really hard to post the above without a list of profanities!

Probably just a 1-off miserable guy. When I was a young teenager it didn't seem to matter much if it was late at night and I had no money - the bus driver would look at you like you were an unbelievable idiot, talk to you like one as well, but always tell you to get on and let you get home anyway. I imagine be kinder & do the same for a girl.

The LRT drivers generally get a pretty good reputation, so hopefully this is a one-off. There should definitely be a process to ensure that vulnerable people aren't left alone in the middle of the night.
Pretty sad too that none of the members of the public who approached her were able to offer her a fare, either.

Listen to how female friends/relatives feel about being out on their own at night. It will shock you.
